It’s estimated that around one in 15 people suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) in the UK every year, according to the Mental Health Foundation (mentalhealth.org.uk). This potentially means some miserable times ahead for many people as we move towards the darker days.
The criteria for diagnosing SAD is slightly different from clinical depression, in that people suffering from SAD are very tired and sleep more, whereas those with depression tend to suffer from insomnia. Plus of course, SAD suffers feel much better when spring arrives again.
