Greetings to you, UltraMarine reader!

Now that we are officially into summer time hours, it’s traditionally a great time to get onto all those jobs that have been stacking-up over the winter. If you are anything like me, by the time you get home from work, it’s usually too dark until now to achieve anything outdoors, and to be honest I rarely feel like doing anything major to my reef either.

Now that spring has sprung though, giving your reef (as well as your home) a spring clean is definitely something worth thinking about and I was actually hoping to put together a short article on this subject in this issue. I’m afraid to say though that I got so carried away in the task itself that I didn’t have time to write the piece!

Have no fear though, as this issue is already jam-packed with useful and interesting information. Actually, I’d like to give a special mention to Jim Fatherree’s ‘Meet the Inverts’ piece which is linked to our crabby cover-shot this issue. One of my aims with the magazine is to start including some more advanced (yet still engaging and informative), material, and Jim’s article really hits the nail on the head this issue in my opinion. I’ll be hoping to include more of the same from now on.

As well as giving thanks to the regular crew, I’d also like to pass on my gratitude to those who have written to me off ering their services following my call for new contributors on FaceBook and UltimateReef. Now that this issue is all boxed-off I’ll be hoping to reply in more detail to those who have written in.

To everyone else… definitely keep your eyes on the magazine in the coming months as I’ll be introducing some new writers through the remainder of the year and of course we’ve also got our Interzoo 2016 report in the next issue, which should be interesting!
