The piece of lumber once swung by Lou Gehrig during a highly-productive period in his career, sold for $91,151 in SCP n SCP Auctions’ 2019 Summer Premier Auction that closed September 28.
According to SCP Auctions pre-auction catalog, Gehrig’s bat displayed “heavy use witha professionally repaired handle crack. Its 1928-1930 vintage is revealed by the C-5B style center brand which was used from 1928 to 1931 and narrowed down by the absence of a “Powerized” stamp which was added on bats starting in 1931.”
