There aren’t many training plans out there that include Reiki (if any), so you might be wondering how it could help you be a better runner. We spoke to Reiki Master and runner Caroline Trowbridge, who has been causing a ripple in her local running community, to find out more. “Reiki is based on a Japanese healing art that promotes healing in our mental, physical and spiritual energy fields,” she explains.
Caroline was attuned to the Usui lineage of Reiki by the Reiki Master Brett Bevell who teaches at the Omega Institute in New York, and is an author of books on many forms of energy healing.
Th e word Reiki is made of two Japanese words: Rei which means ‘God’s wisdom or the higher power’ and Ki means is ‘life force energy’. So Reiki is ‘spiritually guided life force energy’. How can this relate to running?
