Multitasking. A term that comes into its own once children arrive in our lives. I had no appreciation at the amount of extra work they cause and, like most people, my brain is hard-wired to find a shortcut. One shortcut that parents in countries like the USA and Australia cottoned on to quicker than the UK is fitting in a run by running with a buggy. The UK has got the gist now, though, with many British manufacturers in double-digit growth.
So how do you choose the right one? One of the first questions for parents to answer is, do you want the buggy just for running (which would mean choosing a fixed-front-wheel model) or a buggy to do everything (a swivel-front-wheel model)?
A fixed-front-wheel buggy is steered by pushing down on the handlebar and lifting the front wheel off the ground, meaning the turning circle is fairly large! With a swivelfront- wheel buggy, there is no need to have a separate buggy. These are suitable from birth (for walking) with carrycots and car seat adapters and can go into shops, restaurants and even go to the gate on airlines.
