'Never tell readers it's a special anniversary', an old publisher once told me. 'It just reminds them how long they've been buying the magazine and they'll stop!'
Well, if that's true, thank you for buying this 250th issue anyway.

What I do agree with is the idea that a magazine should just get on with job, so I've not commissioned a retrospective or used the occasion as an excuse to reprint old articles; it's the normal lend of help and inspiration.
And, as it seems the right time of year, we also have a feature on the Handwritten Letter Appreciation Society, which champions the thrill of receiving a letter in the post. .. read more With target audience of one, it may not be the sort of writing we usually cover, but letter, like diaries, have a proud literary pedigree.

Writers' Forum

I am Mexican, Spanish speaker and an English teacher too. As a nonnative English speaker, I can tell your articles are really inspiring for those of us dealing with the writing section of Cambridge FCE exams. To my mind, "Writers Forum" is better than "Writing Magazine". Audio extracts and something like under the microscope section of "Writing Magazine" would be my suggestions for "Writers Forum". I really enjoy your magazine. Jose Domínguez Puebla, Mexico. Reviewed 11 April 2020
