The Malayan PANTOUM is a poem in which every line appears twice. It is usually written in iambic tetrameter or iambic pentameter, in quatrain stanzas rhyming: A1 B1 A2 B2 B1 C1 B2 C2 C1 D1 C2 D2 D1 E1 D2 E2 etc. At the end of the poem, the last stanza repeats the first and third lines in reverse order: Z1 A2 Z2 A1 or adds a final couplet after the quatrains, consisting of the third then the first line: Y1 Z1 Y2 Z2 A2 A1
