‘Heat Index: Your Guide to the Best of Summer’ was a 64-page supplement produced by a division of the Hearst group for syndication and included in May with editions of the Chicago Sun-Times and Philadelphia Inquirer. Ironically, the former paper might not have needed to buy in ‘content’ if two months prior it hadn’t sacked 30 members of staff in a bid to save $4.2 million annually, in part because AI is decimating the newspaper industry.
