Pulitzer prize winner (2011) Jennifer Egan, who lives in Brooklyn, New York, does a lot of her writing by hand, because she ‘can’t seem to write good fiction while staring at a screen’.

She explained this, and other details of her writing habits, to Nick Duerdin for the ‘A life in the day feature’ in The Sunday Times magazine, including the facts that she writes at home, and frequently works through lunch time.
