The Mogford Prize for Food and Drink Writing 2016, worth £7,500 to the winner, is open for entries of short stories on the theme of food and drink. The prize will be presented at the Quod Party at the Old Bank Hotel (one of Jeremy Mogford’s restaurants) during the FT Weekend Oxford Literary Festival on 7 April.
It is the fourth year that the competition has run. In its inaugural year it was won by Emma Seaman, and both the 2014 and 2015 contests were won by Guy Carter. Entries should be short stories up to 2,500 words. Stories may be in any style or genre, but food and drink must be at the heart of the story. Any writer may enter, but all stories have to be original and unpublished.
Send stories by email as doc attachments, with details of home address and telephone numbers. Writers may enter only one story. There is no entry fee. The closing date is 6 March.
