Letter from the Editor

Dear Reader

As writers, it seems some of us are not quite as creative as we could be. Actually, that’s not fair. We are all creative, especially when it comes to finding excuses for not writing. But flick through this issue and you might find yourself slightly more reluctant to blame the constant housework, pressures of the day job, kids to feed or dogs to walk. We’ve got writers who’ve lost their sight, lost use of their legs (temporarily), writers with MS and spinal muscular atrophy, writers with Asperger’s, writers who’ve left their homes and belongings behind to flee dangerous regimes... writers who’ve struck it lucky with their first book and writers who’ve not made it into print until retirement, writers with big competition wins and bestsellers under their belt, and writers with no intention of ever publishing to a wider audience. And what do they all have in common? Nothing stopped them writing. And that’s really all that matters. The only thing getting in the way of your writing is you. Find the time or, as Paul Read (p108) says, ‘steal the time’, because until you actually get on with it, you’re not really a writer at all.
