Your camera is an invaluable tool to streamline your research, says Tarja Moles

Using a camera for research may not be the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about research tools, but for certain types of research it can actually be a highly efficient way of recording information.

Compact digital cameras and cameras on smartphones make it easy to take photos. You don’t need to be an expert photographer to use your camera for research purposes. Unless you’re planning to use photos to illustrate your writing, you don’t need to worry about the rule of the thirds or making your photos look interesting – the main thing is to take photos that are clear and capture what you need to record.
