The 2018 Commonwealth Short Story Prize is open for entries.
The competition, from Commonwealth Writers, is for the best piece of unpublished short fiction between 2,500 and 5,000 words by an entrant who is a citizen of a Commonwealth country. There are five regional categories: Africa, Asia, Canada and Europe, Caribbean and Pacific. The overall winner will receive £5,000 and each of the four remaining regional winners will win £2,500.
All stories must be original and unpublished stories written for adults, and must be entered via the online submission system. Translated stories are eligible (if a translated story wins, the prize will be split between writer and translator). Send entries as pdf documents, double spaced in 12pt Arial on numbered pages with the title of the story as the filename. The first page should consist of the story title and word count. The writer’s name must not appear on the manuscript. Include a completed entry form.
