Fairlight Books is a new independent publisher with the sole aim of celebrating quality writing and promote the best of new and contemporary literary fiction.

Fairlight Books was founded at the start of 2017, choosing to set up shop in the dynamic publishing hub of Oxford.

‘The last ten years has seen a radical change to how fiction books are published in the UK and who publishes them,’ said MD Louise Boland. ‘The phenomenal growth in the self-published sector has provided a fantastic opportunity for many writers, particularly those of genre fiction. It’s allowed them to connect directly with their readership and take control of their own destiny – but for writers of literary fiction self-publishing is not the easiest path. Literary fiction books tend to be one-offs and they can sometimes be a bit quirky or out of the ordinary. So, Fairlight Books has been set up to try to rectify this by focusing on publishing writing from new and emerging writers of contemporary literary fiction. Not only are we publishing novels by new literary fiction writers, but we are publishing literary short stories on our website and making them freely available to readers.’
