The winner of the Man Booker International Prize is A Horse Walks into a Bar by David Grossman, translated by Jessica Cohen.

• Ingrid Persaud, from Trinidad, has won the Commonwealth Writers Short Story Prize 2017 with The Sweet Sop. The regional winners were Tracy Fells for The Naming of Moths (see p12), Akwaeke Emezi for Who is Like God, Anushka Jasraj for Drawing Lessons, and Nat Newman for The Death of Margaret Roe.
