PC trainer Greta Powell explains the latest Photoshop developments, with improved tools and cloud sharing

June saw the latest release, or rather update, of Photoshop which is now officially known as Photoshop CC 2015.5. Bearing in mind that this column always attracts more than its fair share of Photoshop queries it seemed an appropriate moment to take a look over some of the main updated features.

It appears that people are always more interested in the exciting visual updates than the more boring but probably very practical ones. It is always worth taking on board that the less-obvious upgrades are often much more important than the thrilling well-publicised ones. Adobe has done a lot of work with shared libraries recently and if you use these you will appreciate this less obvious part of the update. Since the Creative Cloud came into being it has been possible to share library content with other collaborators. However, now you have far have more control with the updated permissions than ever before. These can now be set to read only and specified shared usage, which controls exactly who has access and how they can work within the CC library. In theory this means the content creator no longer has to worry about any accidental deletions or unauthorised content changes.
