I’m sure most of us would give almost anything to have an extra day with a passed beloved pet, but how many of us would go as far as to clone them?

You may have spotted in the news recently that China has cloned its first cat, which got me thinking about how ethical this is and how likely is it that a cloned cat would be just like the original pet? Award-winning journalist Sarah Graham delves deeper into this unusual concept in our lead feature this month.

I’m also sad to say that this is my last issue as editor of Your Cat Magazine — which still seems strange. I’ve worked on the magazine for four years now — and it has been a privilege to learn so much about cats along the way. Although, it still amuses me when so many people I tell about my job say: ‘What, there’s a magazine about cats? How do you find enough to say?’ Trust me, I’ve never struggled for content — and people who say that clearly don’t realise what a complex, wonderful animal our feline friend is! I feel so lucky to have pursued my dream to be an editor of a magazine with a subject close to my heart.

One of my last tasks as editor was to plan the December and January issues — so I can safely say that you’ve got some good reading heading your way soon!
