Good idea!

Adjustable bar stools cater for family members, both short and tall, while on-trend, industrial-style metal and timber is a durable, low-maintenance option.

The Smiths’ new light-filled kitchen centres round a generous island, and is the ideal setting for family and friends to cook, eat and socialise

From the day they moved into their four-bedroom detached Cheshire home, with daughters, Kate and Rebecca, Julie Smith and husband, Steve, were unhappy with their inherited kitchen. The result of a disastrous extension by a previous owner, the kitchen was not only dark and uninviting, but, thanks to a wasteful, adjoining corridor, felt separate to the rest of the house and garden. ‘With little natural light and poor layout, it wasn’t a kitchen you wanted to spend time in, and over the years became no more than a through route to the corridor leading to the garden and hallway,’ recalls Julie. Nine years later, and despite updating appliances, worktops and décor, the couple decided it was time for more radical action.
