Railway Modeller  |  Railway Modeller Special 2019
The 2019 Railway Modeller Special anticipates the magazine’s 70th Anniversary with a look back at some favourites of three of the editorial team; we also mark the retirement of the studio manager at Peco, Brian Meredith, but welcome the newest arrival for the Beer Heights Light Railway – a driver experience locomotive which was named by none other than Jools Holland obe in the summer of 2018.
Modelling features include layouts designed to evoke memories of diesel days on the West Highland line, and present a might-have-been branch terminus in Lakeland; there’s also the intriguing story of Swindon’s Ghost…
Travel with us to Cardigan Bay on the Cambrian Railways, including the steep climb to its summit at Talerddig – plus there’s a layout suggestion in N gauge for a small boxroom included.
There’s an in-depth survey of Gallows Close Goods Yard in Scarborough, with a study of the freight and passenger trains on offer. It would need compressing for OO gauge, but would be an interesting club project to undertake.
The Special has regular features such as a review of the year and a manufacturer profile, which for 2019 is of Minerva Model Railways, one of the new stars of the ready-to-run O gauge scene.
