Canadian Yachting

June 2024 Cast off for Summer 2024! This issue has some great information that we hope will help you to have your best summer ever! Our recent rebranding to Canadian Boating magazine from Canadian Yachting is a reflection of our plans to be more practical, hands-on and active. Being a social boater makes things more fun of course! This summer, make plans to meet friends and family for an afternoon raft-up. Sheryl and Paul Shard, from the Distant Shores TV show, have been cruising internationally for most of their lives and they've had a ton of experience rafting-up for fun and also where it's required as a seamanship skill. In their story Raft-up!, learn about the “whys and wherefores”, tips and tricks to safe and friendly anchoring and rafting. Plan your raft-up with friends for this summer! But before you cast off, have a quick look at our Boater’s Resource Guide. We're starting to gather a list of useful items and equipment to take with you every time you cast off. We think you will agree that every trip you take in your boat, no matter how short, should be a pleasure and should end with a safe and successful return home. So, we're starting a list of clever and useful items to keep onboard for convenience and for emergencies. We hope it's useful to you and that you will contribute your own clever ideas to be shared in the online version. For more reading enjoyment, you will find this issue includes Stephen Bull’s story Rediscovering my boating backyard, a reminder that for many of us in Canada, some of the best boating anywhere is probably nearby. Isn't it human nature that we dream of travelling far afield while some of the best days may be just across the lake? ‘All this and more in the June 2024 issue of Canadian Boating magazine!
