Aviation News  |  British Aviation: The First Half-Century
The first 50 years of the 20th century was the most productive time for the British aviation industry. Its decades saw production of the largest number of different aircraft types in the greatest numbers, swollen by the requirements of two global conflicts.
The total number of aircraft rolled out in the initial 50 years greatly exceeded the output of the 70 that followed. The variety of different configurations used during the period remains unequalled.
British Aviation: The First Half-Century takes black and white images sourced from Key Publishing’s archive – including the superb former Aeroplane collection, which has a comprehensive range of British aeroplane images from the early years onwards – and turned them into colour pictures.
