Classic Bus Magazine

6 issues per year   |  English
9 Reviews   •  English   •   Aviation & Transport (Automotive)
From $4.66 per issue
A beautifully designed and intelligent magazine, packed with well-written articles – all superbly illustrated – about different aspects of bus and coach operation, the vehicles we learned to love or hate, interesting companies, people that shaped the industry, plus personal reminiscences and factual stories. Some are shamelessly nostalgic, some controversial, but every piece is written by people who have a lifelong devotion and unquenchable passion for this interest. Many writers are well-known figures in the industry, bringing a fresh perspective that keeps the magazine relevant to today’s readers.

Classic Bus

Oct/Nov 2024 (193) Our previous feature on the coachbuilder Gurney Nutting has generated a lot of interest. Not only do we have a preserved beauty on the cover (and its rear view on the back), but there’s more inside, too. And we uncover the truth about the Matchbox model coach previously puzzled about. There’s a bit more on Margo’s of South London, as well.   Our classic coachbuilder this issue is Dodson, and our delve into The Bus Archive focuses on when Stevenage had Superbus to get people to from work in the town. We also track prowling Panthers in Dorset, Vetters in the Alps and Bristol Bristols around, well, Bristol!   Hugh Taylor explains how London Transport removed poles and wires and other paraphernalia after the trolleybuses went, and we have brief reports on London’s Routemaster at 70 celebration and the annual, almost bonkers, but tremendous fun day on Salisbury Plain at Imberbus. Our feature on Teesside kindled some memories, as did the time when Townsend Thoreson ran buses to connect with ferries. Plus there’s our popular, lively and well-illustrated Forum section with topics ranging far and wide, and a look at some new books.
