COMMANDO
Richard Barks is not a man who’s easily pleased. He didn’t think much of the Norton Commando he bought new in 1973. Among bikes he’s owned more recently, a 2002 Commando-based Kenny Dreer VR880 and a Donington Norton Commando 961 were only kept briefly, because they didn’t meet his expectations. One he did like was a modernised and mildly customised
Commando 850 restoration shipped to him by US company Colorado Norton Works in 2005. “I regretted selling that one,” Richard says. CNW’s Matt Rambow has nearly 20 years of experience in rebuilding classic Commandos with modifications aimed to improved performance, reliability and user friendliness.
