This issue’s special dossier is dedicated to Igor Stravinsky and his artistic legacy which shaped the twentieth century music and dance, or rather ballet, to which he devoted his entire life. On the fiftieth anniversary of his death the coming months will present several tributes in Europe and US: from a new "Rite of Spring" by Dada Masilo (in Avignon and Vienna) to the version by Olivier Dubois (in Bolzano) to a special Gala evening titled "Stravinskij’s love" conceived by Italian manager Daniele Cipriani scheduled in the coming Festival di Nervi (Genoa) and Ravenna Festival, to Stravinsky Festival in New York. To speak about the special relationship beetwen dance and music we met Maria Seletskaja, a dancer who decided to move from the stage to the orchestra pit.
Several commissions and creations mark the path of Simone Valastro, former dancer of the Paris Opera Ballet today a freelance choreographer that we have dealt with. In addition, from the world’s stages, we review premieres such as Christian Spuck’s "Orlando" for the Bolshoi Ballet, ABT celebrations for Alexei Ratmansky, "Einssein" by Mauro Bigonzetti for the Stuttgart Ballet, "The Lover" by Marco Goecke in Hannover, "Rooms" by Rambert, "In C" by Sasha Waltz, "The Barre Project" by William Forsythe and the "Nureyev Gala" at La Scala Theatre in Milan. In this issue we welcome a new contributor from Russia, Leila Guchmazova.
