In this issue we met Fumi Kaneko, the fascinating Japanese face of the Royal Ballet, and the Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale in 2019 Alessandro Sciarroni who is back with a new project, a durational performance titled "Dream". Premiered at Festival d’Automne in Paris, "Dream" is a journey that shares a common physical and mental state with an audience in captivating transformation.
We also met the new director of Paris Opera Ballet José Carlos Martínez and the riding high on the crest of a wave Italian young choreographer Sofia Nappi.
What is the place for fairytales today? “A Thousand Tales”, Francesco Ventriglia’s new two-act ballet, takes us into the world of tales. We asked how this project came about, what the work process was and whether tales still represent an attractive subject for ballet today.
