Boys Ride Too  |  April / May 2023
Welcome to Issue 13!
This issue has a couple of equestrian sports you may not know much about - fast and furious Barrel Racing and Trec - a skilled and varied sport for all. Thank you to the young riders who shared their knowledge and passion for these sports - maybe you would like to try them this year?
In this issue you can read all about some very special ponies with important jobs in our ‘Horses that Help’ feature and you can find out a bit more about some of them - the Dinky Ponies - in ‘If only they could talk’.
On page 26 we have a fantastic interview with Tommy Harwood who was one of this years riders on the Le Mieaux All Star Academy, which you can still watch on Horse & Country TV. And we have a great careers feature with the talented young man behind ‘needle neddies’ who creates wonderful needle felted horses and ponies.
There’s some skills to learn with our hitching tutorial, how to make a homemade boot holder and some expert help with creating amazing quartermarks, including sharks teeth!
Plus, catch up with Willam and Angus to see how the start to their racing season has gone, check out our A-Z of Horse Health and don’t miss the ‘Cool Stuff’ and the great books we have found.
ENJOY!
