THE FUTURE OF HYPERREAL CG
Hordes of orcs with huge tusks and armoured humans stormed the silver screen this summer in an epic fantasy adventure directed by Duncan Jones. Ten years have passed since Blizzard Entertainment announced the live action version of its massively popular, massive multiplayer online role playing game, World of Warcraft, and at last the technology exists to make these fantasy creatures believable. It might surprise you to hear that Warcraft isn’t just an action movie, Duncan wanted audiences to be moved by the characters on both sides of the battle; there are some poignant moments, where only the latest facial-capture technology would help to convey the story. So the challenge for ILM’s visual effects artists was to create digital characters that audiences would care about.

3D World

I bought the very first issue back when I was a novice. Being a professional artist and vfx supervisor I'm about 1 hour away from introducing a classroom of 60 University students on the University's first 3D course. I couldn't be more proud of the publication. Reviewed 19 January 2021
