Use phones and iPads as external synths in your Logic
Logic comes with a glittering array of built-in synths and effects, but you can never have too many sound sources, so it also allows you to plug in and use external audio devices within projects. This isn’t just limited to hardware synths – you can also connect iOS devices running software synth apps. This is in some ways more convenient as transmission of audio and MIDI all happens via a standard USB charging cable, negating the need for an additional MIDI interface. There are many iOS synth apps out there, both free and paid for. Even better, once you’ve set this up, you can use Logic’s AutoSampler plugin, explained last issue, to create playable, multi-sampled Sampler instrument versions of your favourite hardware.
