Sir,
Far from being apathetic, the majority of non-voters care about politics – but do not feel politicians understand their lives, according to newly-released analysis of polling for Electoral Reform Society Scotland. The BMG Research poll, commissioned by Electoral Reform Society Scotland, has found that significant numbers of non-voters are engaged in discussions about their community and about general politics. Yet they do not feel politicians understand their lives, or that it makes a difference what party is in power.
Of those who said they would definitely not vote, 26 per cent said they often talked about how to make their community or town a better place to live, while 27 per cent discuss politics with friends and family.
