THE POSSIBILITY of Ardrishaig Public Hall changing ownership was discussed at the management committee’s annual general meeting to which everyone was invited.
The hall was gifted to, and is still owned by, the people of Ardrishaig. There are trustees who are appointed for life and a management committee to oversee the day to day running of the hall. As it is not a single legal entity it has been difficult to get funding for much-needed renovation.
Committee chairman Kevin Williamson told the meeting: ‘We’ve not given up but funders look at who we are and what we do and the hall has a very antiquated ownership structure.’ He continued: ‘We thought firstly of making it a trust but then we realised there was already one (Ardrishaig Community Trust) and the sensible thing would be to pass it to them.’
