Players ORION, BEHEMOTH

POLE STAR

Behemoth bassist Tomasz ‘Orion’ Wróblewski may look a touch intimidating, but behind the grimness he’s all smiles. You would be too, if you had not one but two signature basses to play with.
© Sarah Maiden

Death metal isn’t particularly easy listening, and Polish death metal even less so, but one thing I’ve learned from hanging around with metal musicians over the years is that they’re a very relaxed bunch. Behemoth, whose name – whatever your headbanger friends may tell you – is pronounced with the emphasis on the second syllable, are a friendly set of coves who have spent the last few years annoying their home country’s establishment and playing fiendish music, not least with their new album Opvs Contra Natvram.
