Halo Coffee don’t just want to help us wake up in the morning – they want us to realise the impact that disposable plastic and aluminium coffee capsules are having on our environment. We spoke to one of the founders, Nils Leonard, who told us how and why Halo Coffee are changing the game.
Our journey began over two years ago, when I read that 13,500 coffee capsules go to landill every minute and take 500 years to biodegrade. Around the same time, two acquaintances of mine talked to me about an alternative coffee capsule they were developing that was paper based and fully compostable. I knew immediately this was an incredible idea that I just had to get involved in and together we created Halo. The premise was to create the world's best coffees, in a way that's best for the world. People should only drink delicious coffee – we don’t think it’s okay that most coffee capsules can be stored under the sink for years. We want people to buy and drink Halo while it’s fresh – fresh coffee goes of, and so do our capsules.
