Target Carping
Before I get to telling you about this issue’s theme, I have just one observation to make about this month’s issue – it’s full of monsters! I can’t remember putting a magazine together for a very long time that had so many really big carp in it. It’s quite astounding!
So 'Target Carping'… It’s not that long ago that target carping had quite a different meaning than today’s very popular type of approach to carping. Many of our older readers will no doubt remember that the goals we set ourselves each season were much simpler: twenty twenties in a season, a carp in every month of the year, personal bests… these were our early days targets. These days however things are much different… We know exactly what swims in every bit of blue on the map, and not only that but we know all its habits, its weight and its shoe size. To me this is not a bad thing necessarily, as it does give the dedicated angler the chance to set specific targets on a variety of venues, hence the popularity of today’s target carping and the subject of this month’s issue.
