Inspiration

The owners of this country house in East Sussex decided to demolish the 1950s bungalow that originally occupied the site and create a new home. The team at John Bullock Design re-positioned the dwelling on the plot in order to maximise the full potential of the space. To ensure the building responded sympathetically to the landscape, it was designed to look like a period property that had been added to over time. The main structure was constructed in the style of a traditional farmhouse, with a Georgianinspired extension adding extra visual appeal. An external materials palette of brick, tile and weatherboarding helps the new abode blend with the local vernacular.
