If you asked my wife what the hardest bit of building our own home was, she would tell you it was making decisions. The sheer choice of materials on offer, the number of decisions to be made and, in many cases, the need for a quick answer, could feel overwhelming.
I was happy to be left in charge of the big decisions over the construction of the building, but I suspect I’m not the only self builder who was effectively barred by their partner from getting involved with anything to do with the style and colour of kitchens, bathrooms and finishes.
