China Report  |  Issue 51
China has created Shenzhen out of a fishing village. Now the country is on to something much bigger, linking the new tech city with others in the Pearl Delta area with Hong Kong and Macau, to make the Greater Bay Area (P.10-13) Meanwhile, efforts to lessen the strain on Beijing are going according to plan (P.14-15). But the story that touches readers' heart is how a generation of rural kids are being left behind both literally and psychologically if the government does not step in (P.16-23). Tension has been building along the border between China and India (P.40-43), leading many both from home and abroad to ask whether the two giant neighbours are re-enacting the 1962 conflict.
