Classic Plant & Machinery Magazine Vol.12 No.4 JCB pair still going strong Retour à l'édition précédente

It’s the 60th anniversary of the JCB loader-backhoe this month, so to celebrate this fact and with JCB’s help, particularly PR manager Nigel Chell, we have come up with a special report. Owing to this, one or two items are being held over until next time. I don’t want anyone to think
Classic Plant & Machinery is just devoted to JCB and perhaps Caterpillar. We love these machines – and they are popular – but we want all makes, whether rare or popular in these pages. I would love to hear what you would like to see in the magazine and we are delighted to have your contributions as well. If you would like to discuss a possible feature,
please give me a call (01323 833125). We are particularly keen to feature
people like Ivan Pilcher who still use classic machines (CPM, December
2013), but we are delighted to hear about modern fleets as well.
It was great to meet 81 readers of CPM who came to the two JCB Away
Day trips organised by P&J Tours recently. The weather was not at its
best, but we all had a great day at Rocester, Staffordshire and we are
planning a very special ‘deluxe’ day there next April. If you want to put your name down for the trip, call Jayne Love (01323 833125). Any suggestions about places to visit would also be welcome. As for our CNH Basildon visit to the New Holland factory, I set off at 5.30am in my attempt to make it to Essex by 9.30am. The St Jude’s storm was in full force and I had to stop 12 times on my way to clear debris off the road.
The other hazard was trying to miss the flying projectiles that were everywhere. I ended up in the queue to get through the Dartford Tunnel
but amazingly, I made it and on time. After the factory visit the group
travelled to a private collection in the afternoon and some of us got caught up in another massive queue on the M25, this time owing to an accident. However, we all eventually arrived at the location and had a great time.
