Marc’s two most recent albums have been made with Chris Braide, the former Soft Cell backing singer who is now a leading producer for Lana Del Rey, Beyoncé and Sia. The pair’s relationship is set to continue – and Marc is also working with Dave Ball on Soft Cell’s first album since 2002’s Cruelty Without Beauty. Marc says: “Dave has sent me some great tunes over and I’ve been thinking: ‘I know I’ve got to write something.’ I can concentrate on those, now Chaos And A Dancing Star has been put to bed. The songs are very old-school Soft Cell. I wanted old synthesisers and old-school songs, not something linear. We’ll see how it develops throughout this year.”
Despite the success of their comeback show at London’s O2 in 2018, Marc insists there won’t be any further Soft Cell concerts, saying: “People have said, ‘Surely you’re doing more now?’ but, no, that was it. If we ever performed together again, it’d be some kind of ‘live from the studio’ online approach.”
