Their most varied album, there’s Balearic grooves in the title track, a bossa nova smoothness underpinning The Exception and a Fun Boy Three bounce to I Hate It When You Lie. A new mature beauty holds aloft A Letter To My 21-Year-Old Self and You Don’t Love Me, but the intensity in Jon McClure’s vocals and sharp production keeps the Makers vibrant. This will surely see them have their moment again.
