Chesney Hawkes has debuted his first new music in over a decade with the release of Get A Hold Of Yourself. The singer, best known for his 1991 hit The One And Only, wrote the single with the BRIT Award-winning Jake Gosling (Ed Sheeran and One Direction) and Adam Coltman.
Chesney said: “It’s really strange experiencing this all again – three decades later and with three decades worth of growing up. It’s taken a long time to feel confident enough to really throw myself back into a project but growing up and feeling much more comfortable and freer within myself has allowed that to happen. That’s what Get A Hold Of Yourself is about, getting hold of yourself and being free and not giving a fuck what people think. I think people are going to be surprised that this is a Chesney track.”
Hawkes’ story began when he starred opposite Roger Daltrey in the movie Buddy’s Song. Its lead track, The One And Only, quickly became a huge hit for the then 19-year-old, spending five weeks at No.1 in the UK. He followed it with I’m A Man Not A Boy, while his debut album, Buddy’s Song, peaked at No.18 on the UK Albums Chart.
