Boy George has seven albums’ worth of music waiting to see the light of day. The Culture Club man released This Is What I Dub Vol.1 earlier this year and there’s masses of further material to come. He explained: “I’ve written so much music, I’ve got enough for six or seven albums. I signed a deal just before Christmas with a company called Primary Wave, whose job it is to go out and place your music in movies. I own copyright with them. It’s a new experience for me to own my music. I don’t own any of the stuff I did in the 80s – the publishers can do what they want with it.”_
George’s much-anticipated big screen biopic is also well under way and reading the finished script was a therapeutic experience for the 59-year-old singer: “I was expecting to just go, ‘I hope I never see the film’ but I ended up having some major epiphanies from this script reading.” It’s made George particularly reflective regarding his relationship with Culture Club drummer Jon Moss: “The director was asking me: ‘What did you want from Jon [Moss]?’ I said, ‘Oh my God, I had no idea!’ Having this space to think about all those things has been so interesting. It’s like a new understanding.”
