Sony was ahead of the curve with full-frame mirrorless cameras and has built up a comparatively comprehensive line-up over the years. The 90mm macro was launched back in 2015 but still comes with a wideranging set of high-end features.
Compatible with full-frame and APS-C format E-mount cameras, the Sony boasts a Dual DDSSM (Direct Drive Super Sonic wave Motor) autofocus system that delivers rapid, accurate and near-silent performance. It also launched as the first Alpha macro lens to incorporate image stabilization, or ‘Optical SteadyShot’ as Sony calls it. Sony doesn’t quote the effectiveness of stabilisation but, in our tests, it worked out to around two stops with original A7 bodies and 3-4 stops in later Sony cameras featuring in-body stabilisers.
