This summer, an epic new run of audio adventures will bring together two incarnations of the Master – once again played by Geoffrey Beevers and Alex Macqueen, who have both regularly played the character on multiple occasions for Big Finish. The two Masters will join forces in a special trilogy of stories featuring the Fifth, Sixth and Seventh Doctors.
“A ‘Two Masters’ storyline was something I’d been thinking about for a while,” Alan Barnes, script editor at Big Finish, tells DWM. “Ever since Alex Macqueen’s new Master arrived in UNIT: Dominion, putting him opposite Geoffrey Beevers’ Master seemed irresistible. But if two Masters are better than one, then three Master stories are definitely better than two! So I came up with a dastardly plan for a whole trilogy of adventures.”
The trilogy begins in April with And You Will Obey Me, in which the Fifth Doctor (Peter Davison) arrives at a quiet churchyard in the English countryside – the supposed last resting-place of the Geoffrey Beevers Master. But alien forces are gathered around, determined to ensure that the Master will not rest in peace... Then, in May, Justin Richards’ Vampire of the Mind has the Sixth Doctor (Colin Baker) suspecting the hand of his oldest enemy behind a spate of mysterious disappearances... but will he even recognise this ‘new’ Master, when he arrives at the scene of one of their earlier encounters?
