Hell Bent, the 2015 series finale, was an episode full of surprises, not least of which was the first on-screen regeneration of a male to a female Time Lord. Gallifrey’s General was played by Ken Bones until the character was shot by the Doctor (Peter Capaldi). The soldier rapidly recovered in the shape of T’Nia Miller.
The Jamaican-descended actress chose her career at an early age: “I remember on my third birthday, someone asking me, ‘What do you want to be when you grow up?’ and I said, ‘An actor’. I think that’s quite incredible, for a three-year-old to recognise what an actor is. That’s my earliest memory, and through school I was always being creative in some sort of way; I played a female Fagin in Oliver Twist at eight years old in my school play! I went off to drama school and since then the parts I’ve played have been very varied. I’m quite fortunate in that regard.”
T’Nia as Kay and Charlie Covell as Amy in Banana, the 2015 series created by Russell T Davies.
