Writer Jada Yuan — who was born in Los Alamos, and whose grandmother worked on the Manhattan Project with ‘Oppie’ — seems the ideal person to tell this behind-the-scenes account of Christopher Nolan’s atomic hit. She writes vividly and with Nolan-esque meticulousness on how the project came to life, and how the real history intersected. Even with the caveat that it’s an official tie-in, it’s an illuminating complement to the film.
