Shortly after I started researching my family in 1983, my Aunt Edna showed me a cutting from the Islington Gazette dated 1896. The article described how an old Highgate inn was due for demolition. She thought it was connected with the Lambert family, but couldn’t recall the details. I decided to investigate, and before long the old tavern had given up its secret…
