Hello there, are we all good? I was after the first race in Germany even if the track surface at the Lausitzring was bloody terrible. You can go round OK, but even on corner entry you have to relax. If you're stiff the whole bike kicks underneath you, but on the braking you go loose as the bumps kick the bike, then the bike kicks you. It felt in many ways like being back on an AMA track, with those bumps and it being oval. Even on the back straight there are different bumps everywhere, and in the wet it was really tricky. The track isn't very porous (it's built on an old mine so is sealed Ed), the water pools and doesn't go away, which means you would go from being fine, to aquaplaning, to fine, and back again within a few yards. It's long overdue a re-surface, even if I enjoyed the actual layout quite a bit.
Friday went well, I was there or thereabouts in the morning and better in the afternoon. It has been a while since I rode so was getting back into it. I was however, quietly confident. For Saturday we made a change to the offset, closing it a bit and it had the desired effect. We had a great summer of testing and found out why we've been missing a bit chassis-wise for a few races. It had been tough to turn in the long corners there, so the change made it far more comfortable and it feels like the chassis is back exactly where I like it.
