Is he constipated?
ALEX JAMES PHOTOGRAPHY
Idon’t know who was more surprised, me with my chain snapping, or the car driver I then descended on at Hizzy’s chicane pleading to drive me to the pit lane. He was a good egg, and did just that, even though I was pissing wet through (whoever you are, thank you!), meaning we only lost two laps by the time Brod had hopped on his 600 to complete the last 20 minutes of our endurance race. After a pretty tough day’s racing in which I broke my left hand in a highside in race one, got punted off the track at 120mph in my second outing and had to ask carl to do my zip up on too many occasions (I’m a bad boss), this last little bit of drama about tipped me over the edge. We’d been in a comfy second place before it all went down the pan, and looking to challenge for our first win, which makes the gig even more frustrating – I’d never, ever had a chain snap before. Anyway, Farmer Brod pulled the pin and saved the day by passing enough people to get us over the line third in the National 1000 ACU Endurance race. He did a mega job, on a rapidly drying track, on a massively outgunned 600. I was very proud of him, and of Carl, who’d been seamless the whole race through. As for me, Oulton had shown signs of promise. I felt like I was finally getting used to the GSX-R, and before I stacked it, I was in fifth in the Pirelli Super Serious 1000 and genuinely in with a chance of catching the leader… until I pushed just that bit too hard. It was a lesson learned and I’ll always make sure to run traction control in the future. What a knob, eh.
