With the year coming to an
end, I can certainly say
it has been a superb one
for events. There has been a great
variety including the Carrington Rally,
Newby Hall, the club’s Expo X at
Flookbrugh and the Blue Force 1000.
However, with all the excitement
and good times, there is sadness as
the community has lost some great
names, most recently Alan Doe
and Sonny Smith who have both
sadly died in recent months. All our
thoughts go to their families and
friends as we remember everything
they have done for the tractor scene.
This issue we concentrate on a
variety of older kit and conversions.
Peter Love visits Wales and fi nds a
very special 9NAN, which has been
converted to Perkins power and fourwheel
drive, which must be unique.
He also looks at a County 754 that
has recently been fi nished across the
pond in the US, where it must be one
of only a few restored Countys. Other
conversions include a very special
Roadless Ploughmaster 6/4 that was
spotted at Newby Hall and is one of a
kind, plus Dave Bowers visits Kenny
Woodburn to hear the story of his
restoration of a Roadless Ploughmaster
95 which worked very hard for a
living before its refurbishment.
We also look at a collection of
Fordson N tractors, which have
all been sourced locally, and Peter
Love brings us the latest events,
which include a massive gathering
in Ireland. This spectacle of multiple
New Holland combines working
together was a superb sight, with some
interesting tractors also on display.
Finally, we bring you news that New
Holland has launched the biggest
combine in the world, boasting 653hp.
The monster CR10.90 has just been
revealed to the Press and has since
taken a tour of the UK, showing how
harvesting technology has really
advanced in the last decade.
