THE RIVALS
The sub-£500 acoustic guitar market is surprisingly vibrant, but if all-solid woods is your mantra, maybe not so much. There is the Eastman E1-OM at around £499 with solid sapele back and sides and a Sitka spruce top, available in a rather zippy weathered finish. Faith’s FKVMG Naked Venus electro-acoustic is an all-mahogany instrument that has dimensions close to the OM model and streets at the £470 mark or thereabouts. Sigma’s OMT-28H has a more traditional livery, showing its Martin-inspired roots, with a Sitka spruce top and tilia body, and you’ll find it nudging over the £400 mark. Guild is another make that has models that hover around this price point, too.
